Delek US Holdings Inc. reported equipment problems that led to excessive gas emissions at its refinery in Big Spring, Texas.
“Process equipment upset resulted in exceeding the Sulfur Dioxide 500 lbs.-per-24-hour Reportable Quantity,” the refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, noting the emissions happened Thursday, lasting about three hours. “Operational moves were made to immediately minimize emissions.”
It said the parts affected included a diesel hydrotreater, a gas oil hydrotreater and a light distillate hydrotreater.
The 73,000-barrel-a-day Big Spring refinery is located in West Texas, 44 miles east of Midland.
