30 whole minutes of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gameplay has somehow hit the net. The footage first showed up on YouTube before it was swiftly removed by Ubisoft. Since then, it’s been reuploaded multiple times, but the publisher’s pushing hard to get all of these videos taken down. As such, we don’t have an embedded video for you, but if you want to see the gameplay for yourself, your best bet is probably this Reddit thread.
In any case, we’ll do our best to describe what we saw. For starters, this footage is taken from an early build of the upcoming open worlder. Animations lack weight, there are missing sound effects, and everything feels just a little bit off. Overall, though, it looks a lot like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
The gameplay shows main character Eivor travelling across the countryside before taking on a quest where she attacks a fort with a small army. Eivor is wielding an axe in each hand and can throw them at enemies. She also has access to a bunch of special abilities, present in the bottom left of the screen, which are mapped to different buttons just like in Odyssey.
It’s hard to really take too much away from this footage, especially since the player doesn’t seem to be very familiar with how things work, but it’s still a pretty significant leak. We’re expecting an official look at Valhalla very soon, at Ubisoft’s digital event on the 12th July.
